I hope to see more from Tony Baker. Anabel’s Lion is a horror, thriller, and fantasy story with the feel of Ray Bradbury’s Something Wicked This Way Comes. The characters are well-defined and relatable. The story captures the nostalgia of small-town life in the 80s mixed with supernatural terror. Anabel’s Lion is a good example of crossover fiction appropriate for all ages. The ingredients are monsters, good and evil, friendship, love, and power beyond imagination and as old as time.

First off, the story is enjoyable. It feels a bit unfinished at points, but it is the author's first. What surprised me were the Christian apologetics coming from one of the main characters -- nothing takes me out of a good story more than a poor justification for the creation of a literal hell. I would have appreciated if the author's religious views had been mentioned in the book description. That being said, if you are a Christian, this reminded me of Peretti's YA novels. If you enjoy those, you will enjoy this I think.
